Needed: Committed Individuals desiring to serve the Lord by serving others!

The new school year has started and that means we have 18 first through fifth graders coming through our front door every day at 3:30 p.m. for the DayBreak After-School Program! As soon as they come, DayBreak immediately fills with energy! They come ready to do some homework, have a snack, run around some and learn more about the Bible.

Last week was our first week and it went well but it could have gone infinitely better if we had more volunteers! Without volunteers, the teacher-child ratio is 1 to 9 and the children are not able to get all the help and attention they desperately need. Would you consider offering one or two nights a week to come and help us serve these kids? Pray about it!

Here are some answers to some questions you may have:

When is the After-School Program?
Monday through Thursday, the second and fourth Fridays of each month
3:30 – 6:00 pm (Volunteers come from 3:00-6:15)

What is the time commitment?
We ask that volunteers commit for 1 or 2 days a week for the minimum of one semester (the 2 semesters run Sep-Dec & Jan-Jun). Let us know if you would like to visit the program for a couple days and see if it’s something you would like to commit to.

What Happens Each Day?
Monday – Thursday:
3:00 Volunteers Arrive, Prayer & Prep Time
3:30 Kids Arrive, Free Time & Snack Time
4:00 Bible Lesson
4:20 Homework Time, Academic Enrichment Exercises, Learning Games
6:00 After School Program Ends, Kids Leave, Staff & Volunteers Clean
6:15 Volunteers Head Home

Friday:
Every other Friday is Fun Friday at DayBreak! This acts as a behavioral incentive program for the After School Program kids during the week. If they meet the requirements set for them that week, they then have the privilege of participating in the activities of Fun Friday. Activities may include trips to parks, ice skating, going to the movies, bowling, game days and more!

What Do I need to do to Volunteer?
If you decide to volunteer regularly, you will need to do the following:

1. Fill out The Volunteer Application
2. Sign the DayBreak Policies Agreement
3. Fill out a Background Check Form
