Mentors and mentees serve together

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. –  Mark 10:45

Our mentoring program is divided into 3 age groups so that we can provide age appropriate socials throughout the year, and have more of a focused way for mentors and mentees to get to know each other. On Saturday, our youngest mentoring age group volunteered at Bread for the City.  It was a great opportunity for mentors and mentees to serve along side of each other while serving the community at large.

Bread for the City’s mission is to provide vulnerable residents of Washington, DC, with comprehensive services, including food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. The mentoring pairs enjoyed serving Bread for the City by sorting clothes and serving food to individuals.

We were excited to welcome two new mentoring pairs to the group! Lindsey Parker and Tom Willis were introduced to their new mentees, Cha’Lita and Jonathan. It was encouraging to see their relationships get off to a great start as they got to know each other while volunteering together.

We are grateful to Bread for the City for their service to the community and for allowing us to partner with them. The social was a success and we are looking forward to our next outing with this great group!
