SUMMER 2012 INTERNSHIP

DayBreak is looking for individuals who are committed to serving the Lord in the inner-city with time, energy, flexibility, and dedication in our summer internship program. This full time internship is an extraordinary opportunity to gain knowledge of the critical issues that many of our children are facing in the inner-city, as well as develop an increased understanding of missions, ministry and education. You will be part of a team that will implement a summer program for students in first through fifth grades. The DayBreak summer program includes an integrated curriculum of math and reading instruction, Bible teaching, academic enrichment, the arts, recreation, field trips, and more. Additionally, you will help facilitate mission teams as they serve, as well as assist year round staff with ongoing needs that arise throughout the summer.

DayBreak started in 2001 with a group from the young adult ministry at McLean Bible Church who fell in love with the children and the community of Lincoln Heights. Lincoln Heights is a housing project located inNortheast Washington,DC and is a notorious crime hot spot in the District. Over the last several years, we have worked in conjunction with the housing authority in DC and the resident council inLincolnHeights to create and run programs that are increasingly impacting the whole family; however, our primary focus remains serving children ages 4-15. This summer, we are implementing a program that will offer students five weeks of full-day activities and will be partnering with Cornerstone School, a Christian private school in our community. We are excited about the increased opportunities to minister to children and families of Lincoln Heights.

We are serious about developing you as a leader equipped for ministry. We are committed to your professional development through personal, professional and spiritual interaction with the staff of DayBreak Ministries. The internship begins the middle of June and ends early August. Specific start and ends dates will be announced later.

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until April 15th, 2012. Positions will be offered no later than April 30th, 2012.
